About

About the author – Meet Gayle

My career as a writer with a focus on creative nonfiction writing follows years of teaching in northern and southern Saskatchewan and, more recently, as an English as a Second Language instructor in Saskatoon.

I published my first short story, “Snowbird,” in the 2022 edition of the Saskatchewan Writers Guild magazine, Spring and was granted a one-month Wallace Stegner writer’s residency in 2023. My CNF story “The Blizzard” was the winner of the December 2024 Off Topic Publishing writing contest. My completed manuscript, entitled The Will, awaits publication.

When I’m not writing, I’m often riding, as I am also an enthusiastic horsewoman. Horses have been my passion since riding to country school at the age of eight. I find that my riding and my writing often support each other.

I reside in Treaty Six territory and the homeland of the Metis Nation, Northeast Saskatchewan.

Here I will provide blog posts with glimpses into the process of my writing plus excerpts and news about events and publication.
